Gaming Performance — 1080p Benchmarks

The RTX 5060 at 100W handles 1080p gaming well across all titles, with DLSS 4 providing a significant frame rate boost in supported games. The i7-13620H is a previous-generation H-series chip — it's not a bottleneck for gaming, but it falls behind the Intel Core Ultra CPUs in the TUF A16 and LOQ 15 for AI workloads and future-proofing.

Display — 16:10 at This Price Is Rare

The 1920×1200 16:10 IPS panel at 165Hz is a genuine differentiator at $1,337. The extra vertical pixels matter for productivity tasks, and 165Hz is more than adequate for 1080p gaming. Measured brightness is 295 nits and 72% sRGB — not exceptional, but better than the LOQ 15's panel. The 16:10 aspect ratio alone makes it worth considering over the LOQ 15 if you do any non-gaming work.

Thermals — Surprisingly Competent

Gigabyte's cooling solution manages the RTX 5060 at 83°C GPU peak and 85°C CPU peak — adequate numbers. Fan noise at 45dB under full load is in line with competitors. No sustained throttling observed in our 30-minute tests. Better than expected for the price.

Battery & Build

The 54Wh battery is the weak point — expect 3–3.5 hours of productivity use, and about 75 minutes of gaming. This is meaningfully worse than the LOQ 15's 60Wh or the TUF A16's 90Wh. The chassis feels entry-level plastic — functional but not confidence-inspiring. Amazon flags this as a frequently returned item, which suggests QC variance is a concern. Buy from Amazon directly for the easiest return process.

Ports cover the basics: 2× USB-A, 1× USB-C, 1× HDMI 2.1, headphone jack. No Ethernet port on the chassis — requires a USB-C adapter for wired networking. No SD card reader.

Pros
  • Cheapest RTX 5060 laptop we've tested
  • 16:10 1920×1200 165Hz display — rare at this price
  • DLSS 4 support — significant free fps boost
  • Upgradeable RAM and storage
  • 2.3kg — lighter than most budget rivals
Cons
  • 54Wh battery — shortest runtime in the category
  • Previous-gen i7-13620H CPU
  • No Ethernet port on chassis
  • Higher-than-average return rate on Amazon
  • Entry-level plastic build
Our Verdict
The Gigabyte Gaming A16 is the best answer to "what's the cheapest RTX 5060 laptop worth buying?" At $1,337 with a 16:10 165Hz display and solid thermals, it punches above its price. The short battery life and build quality concerns are real trade-offs. If you spend most of your time plugged in and want the lowest possible entry price for RTX 5060 gaming, this is it. If you need battery life or build confidence, spend the extra $12 on the Lenovo LOQ 15 or $16 more for the ASUS TUF A16.
